The authors, reviewers, and editors of Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Wave should abide by the recognized publishing ethics, perform the following duties.
Duties of Authors
1. Authors should give guarantee that the manuscript does not violate the relevant laws, regulations and policies of the People's Republic of China.
2. Authors should present an accurate account of their original research as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be accurate, reliable and with authenticity and integrity. Sufficient details and references should be contained in the paper to permit others to replicate the work.
3. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior is unacceptable. Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently, or split one manuscript into parts to publish. Contents of the manuscript should not involve state secrets or institutional business secrets.
4. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work in a reasonable and regulated manner. Key references and important literatures should not be neglected.
5. Any financial support or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of the research should be disclosed in the manuscript. Potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed at the earliest stage possible.
6. If the work involves the use of animal or human subjects, the author should ensure that the basic principles of ethics are followed and the manuscript contains a statement that all procedures were performed in compliance with relevant laws and institutional guidelines.
7. Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. Affiliations should be listed correctly.
Duties of Reviewers
1. An independent assessment of the submitted manuscript should be made fairly and objectively with professional supporting arguments. Reviewers should inspire creativity and encourage innovations with no academic bias. Academic authority should not be abused.
2. After accepting the invitation for review, prompt response within the number of days agreed is asked for rapid editorial decisions and publication. If reviewers anticipate a longer delay than previously expected, the editors should be informed.
3. Reviewers should keep the submitted manuscripts and associated data confidential, and not redistribute them without permission from the Journal.
4. Professional or financial connection to the article or anything that might affect the review should be disclosed. To decline the review invitation is necessary if reviewers feel unable to be objective.
Duties of Editors
1. Editors should follow the publication policies and reviewing rules of the Journal. All the submitted manuscripts should be handled with fairness and objectivity in an efficient editorial process.
2. The ultimate decision whether to publish a manuscript is the responsibility of editors of the Journal. During publication decision, editors should evaluate the strength of the arguments raised by the reviewers and by the authors, and also consider other information not available to either party.
3. Editors should keep confidential all details about a submitted manuscript and not comment to any outside organization about manuscripts under consideration or rejected by the Journal. Editors are not allowed to discuss manuscripts with third parties or to reveal information about correspondence and other interactions with authors and reviewers. Editors should not release reviewers' identities to authors or to other reviewers, and at the same time, not release authors' identities to reviewers.
4. Editorial independence should not be compromised by commercial or financial interests, or by any other specific arrangements with advertising clients or sponsors. In the cases of academic controversy, editors should assume a neutral and impartial standpoint between the disputing parties. Precautions should be taken to prevent academic misconducts, and the integrity of the scientific literature should be maintained.
