Introduction
The Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves (JIRMW) is a bimonthly journal published by the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences，the Chinese Optical Society and Science Press, Beijing, China.
The papers published in JIRMW include many contributions from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, other famous universities in China, and some contributions from abroad. The articles reflect the most current and the highest-level research work in the field. JIRMW has been abstracted and/or indexed by SCI , Ei ,CA , SA , JICST , РЖ., etc. Beginning with VOL.17, 1998, the information on the contents of JIRMW has been abstracted/indexed in Science Citation Index-Expanded, (see in
ISI Web of Knowledge), and Chinese database

History and honors
The journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves was founded in 1982, and was originally called as Chin. J. Infrared Res. It quickly developed from a quarterly to a bimonthly journal, and extended its scope from infrared to millimeter waves. The journal, refer to as JIRMW since 1991, has become one of the world’s important publications in the fields of infrared and millimeter waves. From 1987 to 1996, the JIRMW page-to-page English translation journal was named The Chinese Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves (CJIRMW), published by Allerton Press, Inc. in New York. Many famous scientists in China and abroad have been invited to serve as members of the Editorial Board of the Journal.
JIRMW was awarded the 1st prize for its high achievement in both academic and editing qualities in 1992 and in 1996 by the Science and Technology Committee of the State in China. Moreover, JIRMW has twice received the 1st prize issued by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Aims and scope
The Journal is devoted to the publication of science and technology development in the area of infrared and millimeter waves, including infrared physics, the optical properties and low energy excitations processes in condensed matters, femtosecond spectroscopy, nonlinear optics, infrared opto-electronics, infrared optics, biomedical optics, remote sensing, image processing, infrared and millimeter wave technologies as well as interdisciplinary research.
Quality control system
JIRMW publishes papers in Chinese and in English. Every paper in Chinese must have an abstract in English, and have an English title, references, figure captions, key words and PACS codes. The journal emphasizes originality, reliability and high academic standards.
Worldwide experts will review the manuscript submitted before the paper is accepted for publication in the Journal.
