    Abstract:

The thermal effect of the refractive index for thallous halide crystals is studied. The result shows that the contribution of the variation of band width due to the change of lattice constant is important for the temperature coefficient of thallous halide crystals and is negative. The temperature coefficients of TlCl, TlBr, KRS-5 and KRS-6 have been calculated. They are in agreement with the experimental results.
