Faint IR target recognition has been a key techique of automatic supervision and warning systems in a long time. This paper describes the tracking and recognition arithmetic for Faint IR targets. Firstly, the characters of faint IR targets in special environments are analyzed. Secondly, how to track and recognise dim IR targets according to these characters is presented. Finally, some tracking tests and the prototype for improving the stability of actual tracking systems are described.
