VO₂ thin films have been a research hotspot in the field of laser protection materials because of their excellent thermochromic properties. The research progress of VO₂ thin films at home and abroad is overviewed. The main material preparation methods, principle of infrared laser protection and protection waveband of VO₂ thin films are discussed. Finally, some challenges which will be faced in this field in the future are summarized.
