    Abstract:

    In view of the problem of image enhancement, a new image enhancement method is proposed. This method combines the wavelet transform with the nonlinear extrapolation in frequency domain. It firstly utilizes the wavelet transform to enhance the high frequency components of an original image and then utilizes the nonlinear extrapolation in frequency domain to increase the high frequency components of the image; finally, the original image is enhanced. The experimental results have shown that this new method can improve the visual quality of images effectively.
