SHOALS is a complete, integrated and self-contained, laser-based, swath surveying tool for shallow (< 40m depth) coastal waters. It is designed for operation on a fixed-whig aircraft or helicopter. A description of the fundamentals and benefits of the technology is highlighted in this paper.
