The configuration of an infrared imaging system is presented in this paper and the passive infrared technique is emphasized. On the basis of this presentation, the mechanism of the infrared imaging technique is analyzed and the current advanced infrared mine detection systems in the world are presented so as to illustrate the important role of infrared imaging techniques in mine detection.
