This paper is aimed to suggest a new algorithm for detecting infrared targets. Utilizing the excellent quality of SA4 multiwavelet, an infrared image is firstly preprocessed with a proper pre-filter, then segmented by the Fisher algorithm, and finally the target Ocould be detected from the background. A large number of experiments indicate that the whole algorithm is quite effective.
