The development of the performance evaluation of infrared automatic target recognition (ATR)algorithms is reviewed in this paper.The operating condition limitation and performance specifi- cation selection necessary for ATR algorithm evaluation are presented.Several conventional approaches used in ATR algorithm evaluation are summarized.
